Summary

The colour of wellboat water can reveal how the fish are doing. Source-water colour usually stems from dissolved natural organic matter (DNOM, or humic substances), which can help protect fish from toxic levels of zinc. lf the water becomes more coloured during treatment, however, the tint is likely from blood released by injured fish.
