Profile

Sara is part of the Section for International Environment and Development, and involved in multiple international and Norwegian research projects. At NIVA, she has been working with international capacity-building, research aid, the science-policy interface, knowledge brokering and Citizen Science. Thematical areas of her work include the mitigation of plastic pollution, the informal waste sector, and multilateral environmental agreements - with a geographical focus on Asia and Europe.

Sara holds a master's degree in International Development from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and a bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Applied Sciences FH Joanneum, located in her hometown Graz, Austria.

Before joining NIVA, Sara was employed by OsloMet where she was involved in EU-Horizon projects on Youth, Citizen Science and Nature-Based Solutions. She also has experience from the humanitarian sector, having worked for an NGO in Burundi and the Norwegian Refugee Council. At the start of her professional career, Sara worked as a journalist for multiple media outlets in Austria.
